Protest in the Uckermark: Citizens fight for their hospitals!
In the Uckermark the streets are boiling! A strong alliance of trade unions, the Marburger Bund and committed citizens has formed to fight for the preservation of the clinics in Angermünde and Prenzlau. This protest is making waves because on December 10th the supervisory board of GLG Gesellschaft für Leben und Gesundheit mbH will decide on the future of these important institutions. The mobilization of the population reaches its climax with a large demonstration in front of the GLG headquarters in Eberswalde, which begins on December 10th at 4:30 p.m., as in a report by Märkische Oder newspaper is highlighted.
Renovation of hospitals under pressure
The situation is tense: GLG has given a renovation order for the clinics in Angermünde and Prenzlau, as both facilities are struggling with a deficit of millions. Loud Uckermark courier A restructuring concept has already been developed which, among other things, envisages converting inpatient services into outpatient care services. While these measures aim to secure basic medical care, it remains uncertain whether the intensive care units in the two hospitals can continue to operate.
The management emphasizes that despite the deep financial crisis, the stationary area will not be given up. It is planned that a medical care center will be built at Angermünde Hospital by 2029 at the latest, which will also function outside of regular consultation hours. This shows how important comprehensive local health care is.
The protest actions and the planned strike at the GLG Angermünde Hospital are not only a necessary expression of dissatisfaction with the structural changes, but also illustrate the municipality's great will to actively defend health care in the region.
