New nutrition box: Health made easy for all Austrians!

The Austrian Diabetes Society (ÖDG) has responded proactively to the growing need for healthy nutrition and is presenting its newly revised Nutrition box. This box is specifically designed to give people a simple and effective tool to sustainably improve their diet and thereby significantly reduce the risk of major diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart attack and stroke. Under the direction of Priv.-Doz. Dr. Joakim Huber, the initiative aims to promote conscious decisions about health and support long-term changes in eating habits.

The new nutrition box contains a comprehensive information book with scientifically based knowledge that includes the latest nutritional recommendations. It also contains an experiment book with creative recipes, a high-quality fruit knife and a cutting board to introduce and promote healthy eating habits. “Eating with pleasure and understanding is fun,” says Dr. Joakim Huber. “The box is intended to motivate you to critically question your own diet and improve it,” adds OA Univ.-Doz. Dr. Bernhard Paulweber, chairman of the ÖDG Prevention Committee. This box is priced from 35 euros plus shipping costs www.ernaehrungsbox.at available.

Practical support for every day

The key principles of the nutrition box include eating lots of fruits and vegetables every day, especially berries, eating healthy fats, whole grains and plant-based proteins. Consciously promoting these foods should help prevent cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. “The goal is to help people not only change their diet, but also have fun doing it,” explains project coordinator Andrea Undeutsch from the University Clinic for Internal Medicine I.

The ÖDG is a scientific society that is committed to the prevention and best possible care of people with diabetes. With this new nutrition box, the ÖDG is taking an important step in supporting the community in the fight against diet-related diseases and invites everyone to increase their well-being through healthy eating.
