Burglar surprises pensioner in his sleep – police ask for information!
A shocking break-in shook the quiet life in Bruchköbel last Saturday afternoon. At around 4:45 p.m., a pensioner was woken up by a burglar in his own home on Erlenweg. The perpetrator, who entered the single-family home unnoticed through the patio door, first looked for the ground floor rooms and finally found the unsuspecting senior's bedroom. As the burglar was about to steal a jewelry box, his eyes met those of the startled resident, which immediately forced him to flee. The perpetrator is described as being around 20 to 30 years old, with light, round facial features and dark hair. The police are asking witnesses who saw the man on Erlenweg to call (06181) 100-123 Fulda newspaper reported.
Break-in at daycare center
While the investigators in Bruchköbel were looking for the burglar, another incident in the region became known: In Niederdorfelden, a daycare center was targeted by burglars between Friday and Sunday. The unknown persons broke open the access door and stole a safe with cash, with property damage estimated at around 1,000 euros. The criminal police have started the investigation and are urgently looking for witnesses who saw suspicious people near the crime scene. Here too, information can be reported by calling (06181) 100-123 Newsflash24 reported.
These two incidents highlight rising crime in the region after the number of burglaries in Hesse rose again between 2022 and 2023. Society is now confronted with the question of how to ensure safety within its own four walls and community facilities.
