Death wears black: Month of action in the Höxter district starts soon!
A month of action organized by the Palliative Network starts on March 9th in the Höxter district. Under the title “Death wears black – and you?” 22 events will take place within this framework that deal with the topic of death and grief. The aim is to take away the horror of this sensitive topic and promote dialogue about it.
The series of actions will be initiated by an opening service in St. Michael's Church in Brakel. The planned events include lectures, readings and workshops. A highlight of the series is the information fair “How do I plan my funeral?”, which will take place on March 15th in the Protestant church in Warburg. In addition, a workshop is offered at the St. Nicolai retirement home in Höxter in which participants learn to write condolence cards and put words to their feelings.
Events in focus
Another exciting event in the campaign series is a reading from the book “Death and I – Buddies forever”, which will take place at the Schlenke funeral home in Höxter. Registration is required for some of the events and the full program can be viewed on the Dean's Office homepage.
In addition to the specific events, a position paper from the DGP (German Society for Palliative Medicine) explains how grief can be understood in a palliative context. The document provides valuable information on the emotional and social aspects that are important for those grieving, such as dgpalliativmedizin.de reported.
