Semi-final matches
The semi-final of the FA Cup is now sealed: Aston Villa will face Crystal Palace, who are under the management of Oliver Glasner. Manchester City, on the other hand, plays against Nottingham Forest. The games will take place on April 26th and 27th at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, the traditional venue for the FA Cup Final.
The FA Cup, officially known as the Football Association Challenge Cup, is the oldest existing football competition in the world and was first played in the 1871-1872 season. It has a rich history, marked by several interruptions, such as during the two world wars. The competition started with a small number of teams and has continued to evolve since then, with numerous clubs from across the UK taking part in it in recent years.
The first games were played on November 11, 1871 and the first final, in which Wanderers beat the Royal Engineers 1-0, was held at Kennington Oval. Wembley Stadium has been the venue for the final since 1924, apart from a short break from 2001 to 2006. The 1883-1884 season registered over 100 teams, making the FA Cup the largest sporting event in the world, with a record attendance of 121,000 in 1913.
The upcoming semi-finals at Wembley will be part of the next chapter of this important tradition in English football, marked by great emotions and unforgettable moments.
