Cristian Chivu returns to Inter Milan as coach!

Inter Milan have hired Cristian Chivu as their new head coach to succeed Simone Inzaghi. Chivu, who played for the Nerazzurri from 2007 to 2014, has signed a two-year contract until June 2027. This decision came after Inzaghi moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia after he ended his time at Inter following the Champions League final setback against Paris Saint-Germain. Inzaghi will reportedly receive an annual salary of up to 25 million euros in Saudi Arabia and will take part in the Club World Cup where Al-Hilal will face Red Bull Salzburg.

Before signing for Inter, Chivu coached the Parma team, where he proved his ability to save a team from relegation. After initial discussions with Inter's management, led by Beppe Marotta, an agreement was quickly reached. The discussions only lasted a few hours, which speaks to the urgency of the situation, as the club's strategy required quick decisions. Chivu will be tasked with building a competitive team that will thrive in Serie A and on the European stage.

Chivu's return to the roots

Chivu is known not only as a player, but also for his previous role as a youth coach at Inter. His knowledge of the club and its philosophy could prove an asset in his new role. During his active time at Inter, he won the Champions League in 2010 and also played for other well-known clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam and AS Roma. In addition, Chivu has 75 caps for the Romanian national team, demonstrating his extensive experience in international football.

Despite his experience, Inter have apparently also considered other options. There was an interest in signing Cesc Fàbregas as another new signing, but he decided to stay at Como 1907 after his club refused to give him clearance. Patrick Vieira was also a potential candidate for the coaching position, but the final decision went in favor of Chivu.

The future of Marko Arnautovic

With the appointment of Chivu at the helm, there will also be changes in the squad. Marko Arnautovic, whose contract expires at the end of June, is expected to no longer train under Chivu. Rumors suggest that the player will leave Milan in the summer as there are no plans to extend his contract.

The coming months will be crucial for Chivu's return to Inter Milan. It will be interesting to see how his strategy and management will impact the team and the upcoming competitions.
