Safe Internet use: Take part in Safer Internet Day 2025 now!

On February 11, 2025 it's that time again: the global Safer Internet Day is celebrating its 22nd edition under the motto “Together for a better internet”. In over 100 countries, institutions, companies and private individuals are invited to actively participate in campaigns for safe coexistence in the digital space. Barbara Buchegger, the educational director of Saferinternet.at, emphasizes the importance of respectful interaction on the Internet, especially for children and young people who often do not recognize the consequences of their actions. This EU initiative is being carried out in Austria with the support of the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. OTS.at reported that all educational institutions, youth organizations and companies are called upon to carry out their own projects on the topic of internet security.

The entire month of February will also be declared Safer Internet Month to allow schools and youth organizations to participate. Participants have the chance to win attractive prizes, such as media equipment or workshops, if they share their activities on social media using the hashtag #SID2025AT. A social wall will also be set up to make the implemented projects visible, as shown on saferinternet.at announced. In addition, a specialist conference on February 13, 2025 in Vienna invites all interested parties to an exchange about digital media competence and current challenges. Not only experts will have their say here, but also young people who can provide valuable insights into their world.
