The luminaire manufacturer Zumtobel plans to invest a total of 191 million euros in research and development in the next three years. This announcement, which was made on Wednesday, focuses on the development of intelligent light solutions for both indoor and outdoor areas, especially for smart buildings and smart cities. Despite this future -oriented orientation, the company is faced with challenges: the construction economy is weak, which leads to stagnating sales in the first half of 2024/25. Restructuring costs have increased the surgical profit minimally from 40.0 million to 41.2 million euros, while the period profit has dropped from 21.2 million to 18.4 million euros, as ORF Vorarlberg reported.

In contrast, the mutares SE & Co. KGAA made great progress in the first nine months of the 2023 financial year. The company's turnover rose by 27 % to 3.4 billion euros, and the net result has reached an impressive 101.3 million euros, which corresponds to a dramatic increase compared to 16.2 million euros in the previous year. This positive development was triggered primarily by the sale of Special Melted Products (SMP), which is considered the largest exit in the company's history with an inflow of around 150 million euros.
