Innovative partnership: OTH Amberg-Weiden and BHS Corrugated promote the future!

The OTH Amberg-Weiden and BHS Corrugated are significantly intensifying their collaboration by establishing a technology transfer center and a junior professorship. The aim of this partnership, as an example of the successful combination of academic research and industrial practice, is to strengthen the North Upper Palatinate region as a location for innovation. “For me it’s a project close to my heart,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Christiane Hellbach, Vice President of OTH Amberg-Weiden. This initiative not only opens up new opportunities for recruiting personnel, but also links theory and practice in teaching and research. The newly appointed young professor Andreas Dörner will teach at the university in the area of manufacturing and automation technology as well as gain practical experience at BHS Corrugated.

Innovation hub of the future

In an accompanying form, the Neustadt Technology Transfer Center (TTZ NEW) will be created in Weiherhammer, which will be supported by start-up funding from the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art. The main research will focus on the integration of artificial intelligence into industrial production. “This cooperation makes a valuable contribution to the development of the region and will be groundbreaking for the future of companies,” says Prof. Dr. Clemens Bulitta, university president. The TTZ NEW will be established in the rooms of the Lars and Christian Engel Foundation, where the application of artificial intelligence and digitalization enjoys high priority, as Prof. Dr. Erich Bauer, CEO of the foundation, emphasized.

Over 20 medium-sized companies have already shown interest in this strong collaboration, thereby confirming the potential of Northern Upper Palatinate as an up-and-coming region within Bavaria and Germany. This proactive commitment by the local economy makes it clear that knowledge transfer and the creation of new synergies are seen as key to the future viability of the entire region. As in the reporting by Upper Palatinate Echo and OTH Amberg-Weiden highlighted, this partnership demonstrates the dynamic commitment to a successful and connected future in the region.
