Recall alert: Morbier Jean Perrin due to dangerous bacteria!

A worrying recall concerns the popular Morbier Jean Perrin AOP 200g cheese, as supplier H.M. Weihs recently announced. The cheese was deemed harmful due to suspected contamination with undesirable bacteria. The best before date (BBD) of these products ranges from February 15, 2025 to March 22, 2025. In a precautionary step to protect consumers, H.M. Weihs has initiated the recall, although all of the supplier's other products are not affected, reported 5min.at.

The affected products have already been removed from sale and Transgourmet Austria has informed that customers can return the cheese without presenting the receipt to receive a full refund. While company officials take measures to prevent further sales, it remains important to observe basic hygiene practices when handling food. So recommends Guide.ama, pay attention to the smell and appearance of expired foods to ensure there are no health risks.

Food safety and shelf life

The expiry date should be strictly observed, especially for animal products such as meat and eggs. Fresh products, such as meat and sausage products, must not be kept longer than specified in order to avoid health risks. While some packaged pieces may allow for a short expiration date due to their special storage, this does not apply to fish and poultry, which should definitely be consumed within the best-before date. When maintaining food safety, it is crucial to always trust your own senses and, if in doubt, avoid eating it.
