Two explosions in a house fire: five Florianis injured!

On October 30, 2025, a serious incident occurred at around 7:40 p.m. in Guttenbrunn, Zwettl district, in which a room fire led to two explosions. According to 5min.at, a total of seven people were injured, including five firefighters who were working on the fire.

The incident began when a 56-year-old man along with his 27-year-old son noticed a power outage. While attempting to restore power, they discovered a fire in the bedroom. Although they tried to put out the fire themselves with a fire extinguisher, they were unsuccessful. The two finally left the house and called the fire department.

Explosions and injuries

The emergency services were quickly on site. A total of seven fire departments with 83 emergency services and 11 vehicles as well as seven rescue vehicles with 13 paramedics and two emergency doctors were involved in the rescue operation. During the attempt to extinguish the fire, there were two explosions in the house, which were caused by an oxygen cylinder in the bedroom. The injuries to those present included minor burns and smoke inhalation.

According to ORF, two of the residents suffered minor injuries, while the firefighters also suffered minor facial burns due to the flash fire. However, the details of the exact injuries have not been released. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and the investigation is being carried out by the district fire investigator and the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office.
