Power failure in the Prater: Visitors are waiting at a dizzy height!
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, a power failure in the famous Viennese Prater caused unwanted thrill. At around 3:30 p.m. there were several rides, which meant that passengers were dizzying in height. According to the press spokeswoman for the Wiener Netze, Manuela Gutenbrunner, the power failure only occurred in a small area around the Ferris wheel and did not affect households in the 2nd district. The Vienna professional fire brigade was alerted at around 4:00 p.m. with around 30 emergency services in order to prepare the possible evacuation of the passengers concerned. Fortunately, the power supply could be restored quickly, so that the fire brigade intervened was not necessary. Visitors to the Prater shared videos of the incident in social media, which recorded the dramatic moments. After the end of the power failure, all stations were back in operation until around 5:00 p.m.
