On the night of March 28, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A4 in the direction of Hungary, between Neusiedl am See and Weiden/Gols. At around 3:30 a.m., a green SUV with a trailer that was transporting a loaded car collided with a white car. In this collision, the driver of the white vehicle was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital immediately.
The injured were given initial care by the emergency services on site, who arrived quickly. The mechanism of the accident was dramatic: the trailer was thrown around by the impact and the loaded car landed on its roof across the road. The accident caused a significant risk to traffic safety as the road was littered with vehicle parts over a long section.

In the course of recording the accident and recovering the vehicles, 20 members of the Neusiedl am See fire department were on duty with six vehicles and a trailer. They received support from the police, the Red Cross, the Samaritan Association and ASFINAG. The rescue and subsequent cleaning of the road took a considerable amount of time, so that the A4 was reopened to traffic after over 1.5 hours, shortly after 5 a.m.
The fire brigade restored operational readiness after more than two hours. The incident highlights the dangers of road traffic and the importance of a quick emergency response.
