On August 10, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A2 in the municipality of St. Paul im Lavanttal, Carinthia. A 46-year-old woman from the Wolfsberg district veered off the road to the right in the direction of Vienna and crashed into the guardrail. As a result, her car overturned and came to rest on the driver's side. The motorway had to be closed in this section, from the Kollmann tunnel chain to the Donnersberg tunnel, for around 1 ½ hours to enable rescue work. 11 vehicles and 73 emergency services, including the St. Andrä fire department, the Griffen fire department and the Völkermarkt fire department, were actively involved in this comprehensive operation.
