On Christmas Eve afternoon, around 3 p.m., there was a serious accident on the A14 motorway between the Halle-Trotha and Halle-Tornau junctions. A car crashed into the central barrier for unknown reasons. Numerous people were injured, with some of the injuries believed to be serious. The police, fire brigade and a rescue helicopter were on site to care for the injured people and stabilize the situation MZ reported.
The consequences of the accident were dramatic: The motorway was closed in the left lane in the direction of Halle/Dresden, which led to a long traffic jam. Traffic has been diverted and drivers are advised to avoid the area via diversion 26. Long rescue and renovation work significantly increased the total closure of the A14 TAG24 reported. Such accidents are not uncommon on the A14, but the scale of this incident required immediate action to best manage the congestion caused by the additional traffic.
