Serious forestry accident in Eberndorf: man hit by tree trunk

This morning a dramatic forestry accident occurred in a forest in Edling, Eberndorf. A 44-year-old man from the Völkermarkt district was busy doing felling work when a severed tree trunk hit him with full force. According to police, he was untying a safety rope that had previously been attached to a tree trunk. The tree, which had become unfortunately wedged, struck back and seriously injured him. A passing witness noticed the incident and responded immediately by providing first aid and starting the rescue chain, according to reports ORF Carinthia.

The rescue workers were quickly on site. Emergency services from the Red Cross, the Bad Eisenkappel mountain rescue service and the Edling fire department worked together to rescue the seriously injured man. After a successful rescue, the man was taken directly to the Klagenfurt Clinic, where he is now receiving medical care. The quick response of the witnesses and rescue workers may have been crucial to his survival, how VK24 reported. The circumstances of the incident highlight the dangers associated with forestry work and the important role that first aid plays in such situations.
