Serious head-on collision on B151: tractor burns, two injured!
On Friday, June 18, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident on the B151 Attersee Straße between Au-See and Unterach. At 3:39 p.m. a car and a tractor with a trailer collided head-on. The situation turned out to be extremely dangerous as the impact caused the tractor to overturn and catch fire.
According to reports from Fireworld the tractor driver was thrown from his vehicle in the accident. Two people were injured, including another person in the car. At 3:41 p.m., the Au-See and Unterach fire departments were alerted, with the keyword “rescue traffic accident – two people injured”. Operations manager Stefan Aigner from the Au-See fire department coordinated the measures on site.
First aid and a large contingent of emergency services
In a remarkable gesture, a firefighter from Unterach, who was driving behind the tractor, immediately provided first aid. The injured people received support from emergency doctors and the Red Cross and were transported to the Bad Ischl hospital and the Salzburg accident hospital. A total of 47 emergency services from the fire brigade, Red Cross and police were on duty for more than three hours to care for the injured people, clean the road and set up a diversion.
The tractor fire was quickly extinguished by first responders using two powder extinguishers. In the sweltering heat of around 30 degrees Celsius, residents supported the rescue workers with parasols, which made the difficult situation even easier.
Important measures to take after an accident
Fast and coordinated help in the event of traffic accidents is essential. According to Verkehrscoaching, first aid measures are crucial because injured people often rely on first aiders. Securing the scene of the accident must always be the top priority, followed by an immediate emergency call. First aid can only be given if it is safe to do so.
As a rule, you should act as follows in the event of a traffic accident: First, consider your own safety, secure the scene of the accident and then carry out the necessary first aid measures. The basic measures include stopping bleeding, lying on your side and, if necessary, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Traffic accidents and statistics
Traffic accidents, such as the one on June 18th, are recorded in the comprehensive accident statistics provided by Destatis. These statistics provide valuable data on the road safety situation and are a basis for legislative measures as well as for developments in traffic education and infrastructure. The aim of these surveys is to show the structures of accident events and to highlight the dependencies between accident-determining factors.
The results enable road users and politicians to continuously improve road safety and take appropriate measures to reduce road accidents.
