Horrible accident in Thiersee: car bursts into flames, four injured!
On September 29, 2025, at around 4:15 p.m., a serious traffic accident occurred on the L37 in the municipality of Thiersee, Tyrol. A 77-year-old German driver from Lower Saxony was driving with his 70-year-old wife in the passenger seat when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle. This was driven by a 27-year-old German driver from North Rhine-Westphalia, whose wife was also in the car. During the collision, the older driver's vehicle struck a concrete wall and then had a head-on collision with the other car. The impact caused the 77-year-old's vehicle to immediately catch fire.
As 5min.at reports, the 77-year-old's passenger was able to free herself. The driver, however, was rescued from the burning car by three first responders. The 27-year-old driver was also able to free himself from his vehicle, while his passenger was trapped inside and had to be freed by first responders.
Injured people and rescue efforts
All four people involved in the accident suffered injuries of an undetermined degree and were immediately transported to the Kufstein district hospital and the Innsbruck clinic. The injured people were efficiently cared for thanks to the quick response of the emergency services, including four Kufstein police patrols and several rescue vehicles. An emergency doctor helicopter and six vehicles from the Thiersee fire department were also on duty. The financial damage to property was significant as both vehicles were totaled.
