Shocking accident on the A3: car sinks in ice-cold water!
A spectacular accident occurred on Monday evening on the A3 in the Würzburg district when a driver suddenly left the road. The driver, a man, lost control of his small car between Randersacker and Biebelried and broke through the guardrail. As a result, his vehicle raced down an embankment and landed in a frozen water retention basin below the highway, where the car sank up to its roof in the icy water, today.at reported.
The driver suffered injuries, but was able to free himself from the car in time. Members of the volunteer fire department rushed to help and rescued him from the icy water. He was taken to hospital with hypothermia while divers from the Würzburg fire department searched the wreckage for other possible occupants. The emergency services were unable to find any other people. The badly damaged car was finally recovered from the basin and the A3 had to be completely closed for several hours, as was also confirmed by bild.de.
Some details about the use
The conditions were anything but easy for the rescue workers: with outside temperatures below freezing, the divers were sent into the ice-cold water to search for the vehicle. Fortunately, there were no other injuries and the driver himself was able to draw attention to himself when emergency services arrived. The exact circumstances that led to this extraordinary accident are currently unclear and the relevant authorities are continuing to investigate.
