Farmers' Light Tour: Shine and community in the darkness!
On December 7th, 2024, farmers in Prenzlau invite you to the festive lights trip to promote community and joy during the Christmas season.

Farmers' Light Tour: Shine and community in the darkness!
The farmers' festive candlelight ride rolls through the streets and brings sparkle to the dark days of December! The farmers' associations in Prenzlau and Bergkamen have organized impressive demonstrations. A parade of decorated tractors and agricultural vehicles took place in Prenzlau on Saturday, leading through the city, past the Christmas market to Hetzdorf. Trucks, fire departments and THW are also represented, all brightly lit and ready to give the spectators a “good feeling”. According to Wenke Möllhoff, chairwoman of the Uckermark Farmers' Association, it is not about political messages, but about creating a warm, communal atmosphere during the hectic Christmas season nordkurier.de reported.
But the mood at the lights drive in Bergkamen is also festive, but the farmers are sending an example of their concerns. On December 22nd they start at 5 p.m. at the comprehensive school and move through the city with over 40 to 60 illuminated tractors. This route will be adjusted due to safety requirements, bypassing major Christmas markets. The farmers are staying in residential areas in order to appeal to those who complained last year that their parts of the city were not served. A particular focus is on the planned Mercosur agreement, which is seen by farmers as a threat to local agriculture, such as calf reported.
A spark of hope
The lights can create a festive atmosphere as well as draw attention to existing challenges in agriculture. The organizers from Bergkamen would like to give the people in the region a “spark of hope” through their tour. This year the route will be around 10 kilometers longer and strategically redesigned to penetrate into otherwise less-noticed parts of the city. This initiative represents not only a festive light show, but also an outcry from farmers in the face of their ongoing existential fears and constant bureaucratic challenges. An urgent appeal that should not be overlooked in this dark season!
