Horror crash in Berlin: Transporter hits a tree and overturns!

There were dramatic traffic accidents in Berlin at the weekend, which caused a stir in both Altglienicke and Kreuzberg. Early on Monday evening, December 16th, a company van crashed into a tree on Schönefelder Chaussee. The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m. when the driver apparently left the road for reasons that are still unclear. The impact was so severe that the tree was tilted and the van remained on the road. Witnesses immediately alerted the fire department and police, who quickly arrived on the scene. Fortunately, the driver was only taken to hospital in Neukölln with minor injuries. The emergency services tied up spilled operating fluids and cleared the scene of the accident before the police began investigating the cause Berlin Live reported.

Fast-paced chase in Kreuzberg

Just a few hours earlier, on Sunday night, a speeding 21-year-old overturned in a BMW on Yorckstrasse. At 1:54 a.m., the fire brigade alerted the emergency services after eyewitnesses reported an accident on the roof of the vehicle. The driver had previously left a trail of destruction at excessive speed by demolishing parked cars and ramming two trees. One of the trees was uprooted and crashed into parked cars, causing significant damage. The driver and occupants of the vehicle were initially not found at the scene of the accident, but were later picked up by the police at the owner's home address. A breath alcohol test showed 1.4 per mille, which led to the immediate revocation of the driver's license Berliner Kurier reported.

The rescue measures were complicated because several parked vehicles were badly damaged and a ten-meter-long guardrail was also dented. During the evacuation, onlookers gathered at the scene of the accident, which caused further problems. Three men who did not obey police orders resisted, resulting in one police officer being injured. Yorckstrasse remained closed for several hours during the clean-up work, which had a significant impact on traffic, including bus traffic. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident and what happened exactly.
