Community in Jamestown shows heart: generous donation for fire brigade!
In a remarkable gesture of support, Clarice Liechty gave the Jamestown Fire brigade an impressive donation of $ 185,000. This sum, which is intended for new operational clothing and the necessary equipment, represents the largest individual donation from a citizen for the Ministry of Fire Brigade, as was reported on Fireworld. Liechty and her deceased husband, Reuben, have placed emphasis on their commitment to the community and believe in the responsibility to help others. "Firefighters are very important to ensure the security of the firefighters," she emphasized. Fire chief Jim Reuther was pleased with this unexpected support and said that the donation would take the pressure from the city administration to procure the necessary money.
important equipment in the need
The fire chief said that the old equipment has been in use for 16 years and, according to guidelines of the National Fire Protection Association, should be replaced after 10 years. The donation will also finance the purchase of washing machines for the fire brigade clothing that is essential for the maintenance of protective equipment. "We have never had a dryer, and the washing machine that we use is almost as old as we are now," added Reuther, as well as The Jamestown Sun reports .
But the significant developments in Jamestown do not stop here: The urban project for the exchange of water meters, which has already been completed 80 %, could continue to be promoted by additional actions in the coming month. City Engineer Travis Dillman explained that the subcontractor VEPO would replace the last 20 % of the water meters and that additional measures such as text messages and calls are planned to move the residents to participate. A sum of around $ 3,400 is required for these additional measures.
