Fire brigade practices for an emergency: storm simulation in Rottau

In the district of Traunstein, the fire brigade tours are preparing for extreme weather conditions. Recently there was an exercise by the “Fire Brigade Football Center Achen” in the new fire station in Rottau, in which numerous operational scenarios were simulated. The scenario included a violent storm that brought heavy rainfall over the places and brought Schnaitseee. The exercises made it possible for the approximately ten firefighters and specialists to efficiently train the coordination and handling of complex operations. Rainer Winkelmair, the head of the management agency, praised the good preparation and the effective structures that help to support the fire brigades and aid organizations involved, such as District fire brigade association Traunstein reported.

A similar exercise took place in the region in May 2023 when a fictional storm put the emergency services to the test. Under the direction of the specialist district fire chief Florian Scholz, the teams of the master management center had to react within a very short time. They transformed their space in the Traunstein district office into a fully functional staff room. In view of the large number of reports that came from different locations, smooth teamwork was required. The simulated use included various challenges, such as in Nußdorf, where vehicles were enclosed by fallen trees, and in Traunstein, where a truck threatened to crash on a bridge railing. These exercises make it clear that only through consistent training the emergency services are able to react quickly and efficiently to crisis situations, as well as Fireworld

The regular tests and exercises ensure that the over 20 fire brigade management points in the district, including those in Rottau, Erlstätt, Trostberg and Fridolfing, are always optimally prepared for large damage situations. Not only the technical training is trained, but also the communication strategies with the media and the public in order to carry out the missions as effectively as possible. In this way, the fire service is constantly guaranteed in extreme weather conditions.
