A dramatic truck fire on the A9 between Trieben and the playing field caused massive traffic disruptions on Thursday evening! The 62-year-old Greek truck driver noticed a flat tire around 9 p.m. and stopped on the hard shoulder. But he soon noticed that the right tire was on fire. Attempts to put out the fire yourself with a fire extinguisher failed. Instead, the fire quickly spread to the sides of the ship and threatened to set the entire vehicle on fire. The situation escalated quickly: A road user behind alerted the emergency services, and the Rottenmann fire department was immediately on site. Although the fire department was able to quickly extinguish the fire, the semi-trailer was left badly damaged and the 22 tons of cheese on board were completely ruined. Fortunately, the driver was uninjured, but the A9 was completely closed for several hours while the fire was extinguished and cleaned up.
