On Thursday morning, the Grevesmühlen fire department was on alert when the fire alarm system in the DRK residential complex on Tannenberg went off. More than 20 firefighters arrived in several vehicles to search for the origin of the alarm. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm - there was no fire or smoke visible, and the emergency services were able to leave after a few minutes ostsee-zeitung.de reported.

This incident marked the fire department's 198th deployment in 2024 - an impressive result that shows that the firefighters are on duty at least every other day. The Sunday before, they had already called for help in the event of an accident involving wild animals, which once again underlines the constant vigilance and preparedness of the Grevesmühlen firefighters. But that wasn't the only alarm that day. That same afternoon, emergency services were called again, this time due to reported smoke at a recycling center. On site it turned out that it was dust generated by work activities - no danger in this case. Immediately afterwards, the fire department received another alarm about smoke coming from an empty single-family home.
