Hit-and-run after crash: Who is the stranger from the parking lot?
On Monday, January 6, 2024, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., a traffic accident occurred in the parking lot of the “HILL-Fitness” fitness studio. In this incident, a traffic sign was knocked down and the driver of the car that caused the accident left the scene of the accident without permission. The car apparently drove from the parking lot onto Treverer Strasse in the direction of the Römerstrasse intersection. The police are now looking for information about the fleeing vehicle and its driver. Witnesses are asked to call 06503/9151-0 or email pihermeskeil@polizei.rlp.de. Further questions can be directed to the Hermeskeil police station, whose address is Trierer Straße 53, 54411 Hermeskeil.
In another incident on Wednesday afternoon, there was a traffic accident in Heinsberg Lieck involving a female driver of a Hyundai and the driver of an Audi Q5. While the Hyundai driver was driving towards Heinsberg, an Audi came towards her and a collision occurred, the cause of which is currently unknown. After the accident, the Hyundai skidded into a small hedge, while the driver of the Audi left the scene of the accident without permission, without taking care of the Hyundai driver and her two children trapped in the vehicle. Fortunately, witnesses helped and were able to free the children from the car. The fire brigade completely closed WaldFeuchter Straße while the emergency services looked after the family.
Investigation leads to arrest
The police, who were on site to record the accident, immediately began searching for the fleeing Audi driver. The Audi was finally located through a so-called “Hansel and Gretel investigation”. The car had significant damage to the front area and left a scratch mark on the road. The wanted driver was caught and arrested on Aphovener Straße. Interestingly, the Audi no longer had a front tire at this point and had apparently continued to ride on the rim.
