Chinese delegation enthusiastic about Salzburg's forest fire fighting
A delegation of around twenty people from China visited the state fire brigade command in Salzburg on December 3rd to find out about forest fire prevention and fighting. This group, consisting of representatives from Chinese forestry authorities, was warmly received by high-ranking fire department officials, including Fire Chief Karl Schnöll-Reichl and Chief Fire Chief Mike Leprich. During their visit, the focus was on training methods and operational tactics for combating vegetation fires.
The guests showed particular interest in the newly developed forest fire tank fire engine, which is used by the Salzburg fire department, as well as in the modern forest fire equipment. These presentations gave the delegation valuable insights that could potentially be applied in China. The visit to Salzburg was part of a larger information trip that also took the delegation to Vienna and the Tamsweg Agricultural School lfv-sbg.at.
Important aspects of collaboration
The delegation aimed to learn best-practice measures to combat forest fires, an issue of increasing importance in global warming. China's increasing forest fire management challenges could be significantly reduced by sharing knowledge and experience from countries such as Austria, which became clear during the visit. The Chinese had already recognized the need and importance of forest fire protection measures before this visit and are eager to learn from European experiences. Further details about the exchange are forthcoming meinkreis.at available.
