Arson in Berlin: 17 vehicles in blazing flames!
On Monday night, a devastating fire broke out in Berlin, completely burning down 17 trucks and construction machines in the Marzahn and Lichtenberg districts. According to reports from exxpress.at The fire department was alerted around 3 a.m. when the flames became visible on the premises of the concrete producer Cemex on Gehrenseestrasse. Eight trucks burned there, while nine other vehicles were on fire at the nearby Pyramidenring. The owners of the vehicles are not yet known.
Investigators are targeting arson
Firefighters battled the flames for over two hours while facing water supply difficulties. In Marzahn, the water had to be transported over a long distance, and tank fire engines also commuted to Alt-Hohenschönhausen to meet demand. How bild.de reported, investigators have assumed arson due to the spatial and temporal proximity of the fires and are investigating a possible connection between the two incidents. The state security agency has started the investigation because a political motive cannot be ruled out.
In addition, a left-wing radical group reported on the Indymedia platform that it was responsible for the arson attacks. Their letter of commitment refers to the planned expansion of the A100. The incidents bring back memories of a similar fire in December 2023, in which several cement silos and vehicles burst into flames on another concrete manufacturer site in Berlin-Kreuzberg. There, too, there was a letter of confession with similar political motives.
