New citizens in Carinthia: Diversity celebrates integration!
Klagenfurt experienced a celebratory moment today when Governor Peter Kaiser welcomed 44 new citizens in the Hall of Mirrors. Among these newcomers are 14 children and three married couples who now have Austrian citizenship. At the ceremony, Kaiser explained: “Your newly acquired citizenship comes with rights, obligations and values that we represent together in Carinthia, Austria and Europe.” He called on the new citizens to actively participate in democratic life and to take advantage of the opportunities in their new homeland. These solemn words were supported by Mario Flackl, who read out the vows. The event was very well received and was ceremoniously concluded with the national anthem ktn.gv.at reported.
Diversity of origins
The new citizens come from an impressive diversity of over 20 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Nigeria, Morocco and Serbia. This large number of countries of origin reflects the multicultural image of Carinthia. Kaiser emphasized cohesion and the need to emphasize what unites us in a time of challenges: "Especially in difficult times, we must always put what unites us before what divides us - this is the only way we will overcome the common challenges as a united and strong community." This message was proudly addressed to the new citizens who are now part of Austrian society and are taking on the duties and rights of citizenship meinkreis.at reported.
