Offenburg, Deutschland - Kehl (ots)
A shocking incident shook the cross -border train connection between Strasbourg and Karlsruhe on Monday! At 9:30 a.m., officials from the common Franco-German service unit caught a 21-year-old Syrian man who was traveling with a Belgian identity card. But the appearance trough: on closer review, there was massive doubts about his identity. The police found that the identity card was registered as stolen in the search system! The suspect confessed that he had received the documents from his smuggler and had previously applied for asylum in Greece.
rapid judiciary: quick procedure meets the attempt to deceive
The public prosecutor's office in Offenburg acted quickly and applied for an accelerated procedure. The reason: the 21-year-old had no residence in Germany! Just a day later, on Tuesday, the man was already convicted by a criminal judge of the Offenburg District Court. The punishment? A fine of 40 daily rates of 10 euros - and that was not all: after the verdict, he was pushed back to France immediately. A clear sign that attempts at fraud are not unnoticed at the borders!
What is behind the accelerated procedure?
This procedure is used in clear cases where the evidence is clear - and especially if the accused has no permanent residence. The laws make it possible to relieve the judiciary faster and ensure that these perpetrators do not simply escape. A slap in the face for those who think they could simply travel through Europe with fake documents!
