Black driver flies with Delta from New York to Paris
An unauthorized passenger caused excitement on a Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Paris on Tuesday evening. During the intensive travel to Thanksgiving, a Stowaway, undetected on board the flight, managed to achieve, as the authorities reported.
Details of the incident
The Stowaway was on the Delta flight 264 by New York JFK International Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. The airline confirmed to CNN that the person had no boarding pass. According to a spokesman for the US transport security authority (TSA), the unknown man managed to pass the security check and to bypass two identity examination and boarding stations to enter the aircraft. Fortunately, the person did not carry any forbidden objects.
ambiguities on the process
How Stowaway managed to get past the boarding stations remains unclear. Delta revokes further information, while the investigation of the incident is still underway.
reactions of passengers
The passengers only learned from Stowaway after landing in Paris. Rob Jackson, a passenger of the Delta flight, commented on CNN: "I actually did not see the person in question." He added: "The first announcement to the passengers was given by a problem when we parked on the gate and was instructed to sit because the French police would enter the plane to deal with 'a serious security problem'."
Captain announcement
in a video recorded by Jackson can be heard, as the captain explains: "Friends, here the captain speaks. We are just waiting for the police to be on board. They could be here now and have instructed us to stay on the plane until we clarify the additional passenger."
safety standards in Delta
Jackson noticed that the flight was completely fully booked and that there were obviously no free places for Stowaway. A spokesman for Delta said in a statement: "Nothing is more important than security issues. Therefore, Delta carries out a comprehensive investigation to find out what could have happened and will work closely with other aviation players and the police."
further investigations
CNN has contacted the FBI and Charles de Gaulle Airport to get more information. This incident raises important questions about security and the processes at airports, especially in times of heavy travel.
