In a dramatic appeal, Freedom EU MP Petra Steger warned of current developments in the European economy. She criticized the announcements by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding the creation of a new EU defense fund that is to be based on debts. Steger described this initiative as "dangerous" and pointed out that it could represent an "economic death", especially for net payer states like Austria. According to their assessment, the national sovereignty could be further undermined by this debt fund, which resulted in a "hollowing out" of financial autonomy.
