Belgium remains loyal to Formula 1: Spa-Francorchamps in the race for the long term!
The Belgian Grand Prix will remain open to Formula 1 fans until 2031! The legendary Spa-Francorchamps racetrack has extended its contract so that the premier class of motorsport can continue to compete at this traditional location. After laola1.at The race will be held in 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031, which underlines the continuation of this event. However, the race will not take place annually: from 2027 there will be a rotation in the calendar, which will mean that Spa will only be held every two years in the future.
The details of the new agreement
In total, only four races will be held at Spa-Francorchamps over the next six years. This decision results from the high demand for racing venues and the expansion of Formula 1 into Asian markets, such as nau.ch reported. Staggering with other races is still pending clarification, but there is speculation about a rotation with the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. F1 President Stefano Domenicali emphasizes that Spa-Francorchamps is recognized as one of the best circuits in the world and has seen significant investment in infrastructure improvements in recent years.
This contract extension not only reflects the trust between the organizers and Formula 1, but also gives long-term security to the Belgian circuit. Previous contracts were usually only extended for a short period of time. The unpredictable weather factor in Spa also makes the races there an absolute highlight on the calendar. Domenicali praises the route and the unique experiences it has created over the years.
