Tax advice is changing: AI is revolutionizing everyday working life in Vienna!
On June 11, 2025, an all-day conference took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Vienna that focused on the potential and possible applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in tax consulting. Tax consultants, auditors, startups and representatives from authorities took part in the “Tax Tech Conference 2025” and exchanged ideas about innovative technologies. The opening was carried out by Philipp Rath, President of the Chamber of Tax Consultants and Chartered Accountants.
The main focus of the conference was on the role of AI as a tool to facilitate everyday work in tax firms. It was emphasized that AI is used to delegate routine tasks and not to replace humans. The LexisNexis workshop “Lexis+ AI – From legal answers to document analysis” showed how AI applications in tax practice can save time and resources. Lexis+ AI will be launched in Austria in 2024 and offers, among other things, answers from extensive specialist literature and precise text analyzes of your own documents.
Integration of the EU AI Act
The changes caused by the use of AI are reinforced by the EU AI Act, passed in May 2024, which is intended to create a uniform set of rules for the use of AI systems in the European Union. bundesregierung.de emphasizes that the AI Act aims to create trust in AI technologies while promoting innovative developments. From February 2, 2025, the first obligations will apply to providers and operators of AI systems, including tax offices.
The AI Act takes a risk-based approach: the higher the risk of an AI application, the stricter the requirements. Applications that endanger fundamental rights or manipulate people will be banned. Tax advisors must prepare for the new regulatory requirements to ensure that their employees have the necessary skills to use AI. The seminar on this topic, which is aimed at specialists in tax firms, will impart practical skills for the responsible use of AI.
Acting responsibly with AI
LexisNexis emphasizes the highest safety standards and responsible behavior when developing its AI products. Susanne Mortimore, CEO of LexisNexis Austria, emphasized that AI should support experts in tax advice, but not replace them. The integration of the workbooks from the training institution “Seminar Oberlaa” into Lexis+ AI enables participants to access important content via the Lexis 360® research database, which underlines the relevance of the training.
With the impending entry into force of the AI Act and the associated new requirements, tax advisors are required to proactively deal with these technologies. fortbildung.stbk-stuttgart.de informs that the seminar content also includes legal and ethical aspects as well as practical implementation tips and best practices for integrating AI into everyday practice. Participants receive a certificate confirming the acquisition of the legally required AI competence in accordance with Article 4 of the EU AI Act.
