Well-tempered: Molfsee shows the future of sustainable building!
Molfsee.A new highlight in the Molfsee open-air museum: The exhibition “Well-tempered. For more climate-friendly architecture” has opened and runs until November 2nd, 2025! Schleswig-Holstein's Interior Minister, Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU), was among the first guests and was enthusiastic about the innovative approaches to sustainable construction.
This fascinating exhibition raises central questions about the future of building and living. What if we didn't rely on ever more complex technology, but instead concentrated on the basics of design? Museum director Kerstin Poehls emphasizes: “None of us can imagine life without the built environment.” Visitors can look forward to exciting topics such as the optimal placement of heaters or the importance of variable ceiling heights.
A look at building culture
At the core of the exhibition are over 50 impressive examples of traditional building culture from all over Europe, which were put together by renowned architects. These are presented in a large-scale “atlas” that presents the structural principles visually and informatively. The exhibition is a takeover from the Architecture Museum in Ljubljana and was previously shown at the Slovenian pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice. Here in Molfsee, however, a direct connection is established to the historic buildings of the open-air museum.
Minister Sütterlin-Waack emphasizes: “The exhibition is dedicated to a very important and very current topic: sustainable and climate-friendly construction.” It invites you to think about changes in the construction sector and offers a bridge between the past and the future of construction. There are guided tours every first Sunday of the month for anyone interested, and clay workshops are planned in the summer. The exhibition is a must for anyone interested in the future of construction!
