Döbeln, Deutschland - on November 17th was an important day for the Catholic Christians in Germany! The diaspora Sunday of the Bonifatiuswerk took place under the motto "Tell what you trust". This day focuses on the challenges and the situation of the minority of Catholics. With donations and collections that were collected in the evening fairs and on Sunday, the Bonifatiuswerk supports important projects in Germany, Northern Europe and the Baltic States. An outstanding example this year is the Caritshospiz Mother Teresa in Heilbad Heiligenstadt, where up to 13 people can live in dignity and self -determination until the end of life.

In the communities, the diaspora Sunday was celebrated in a creative way in order to raise awareness of the situation of the diaspora. In the diocese of Dresden-Meißen, this day fell together with the election to the local church council, especially in the parish of St. Paulus in Döbeln. Pastor Steffen Börner, chairman of the diocesan Bonifatiuswerk, combined the two events in his sermon and emphasized how important volunteering is in the diaspora. "The willingness to serve on the local church council is a valuable building block for the certificate of faith in a strong diaspora situation," he said. Festures in Erfurt

Already on Friday, November 15th, the diaspora situation was drawn to Erfurt. The Catholic-Theological Faculty celebrated its patron saint Albertus Magnus with a festival service and a festival academy. On this occasion, the bishops of the five East German dioceses came, which are also the bishops of the regional priest seminar in Erfurt. In the St. Marien-Dom there was also an exhibition on the 175th anniversary of the Bonifatiuswerk, which underlines the importance of this institution.
