Conviction after incitement: Döring insulted as Mengele!

An outcry of indignation shook the political landscape in Giessen! The SPD member of the Bundestag Felix Döring was insulted as “Dr. Mengele” on the sidelines of an AfD event in Rabenau. This despicable insult has now led to a court ruling that sentenced a 70-year-old man from Laubach to a fine for incitement to hatred.

In August 2023, a video caused a stir when the man compared Döring to the notorious concentration camp doctor Josef Mengele during an AfD state election campaign event. Döring, who took part in a demonstration against the AfD, did not put up with this insult and filed a complaint. The Giessen district court has now made a verdict: The convicted person must pay 120 daily rates of 30 euros each. The verdict is not yet final and the man has not yet been convicted.

A judgment with a signal effect

The incident not only caused a stir, but also sent a clear message: insults and hate speech against politicians will not be tolerated! Döring himself commented on Instagram and described the punishment as “juicy”. He encouraged anyone suffering from hate and hate speech to take legal action. He also appealed to citizens to conduct political disputes fairly and objectively and referred to the Hesse against Incitement portal, where such incidents can be reported.
