Erkheim, Deutschland - The district of Unterallgäu faces an exciting fresh start! The district committee has decided to launch the "Regionalwerk Unterallgäu GmbH" on December 16. This is not just a formal step, but a powerful signal for the future of energy supply in the region!

District Administrator Alex Eder is enthusiastic about this decision and proudly announces that over 20 communities have already promised their support. "We can found the regional work with that," he explains. This work is considered the key to the energy transition in the district and aims to meet the growing energy requirement sustainably. "Our answer to the challenges of the energy transition is the regional work. We are not only concerned with the generation of electricity, but also about important future issues such as the storage of energy," adds Eder.

Financial support and participation

The district provides starting capital of up to 62,000 euros for the foundation and has appointed District Administrator Eder as a representative to the supervisory board. The idea for the regional work originally comes from the Free Voters' parliamentary group, which already submitted the application in July 2022. The SPD-FDP parliamentary group community also joined later. The district and 26 municipalities have already created business planning and designed a statute. But that's not all: by December 4th, other communities also have the opportunity to participate in this future -oriented project!

In addition to this exciting project, there are further news from the district council: The district is investing 302,000 euros in fire brigade funding for the municipalities of Erkheim, Türkheim and Mindelheim. In addition, the district senior dormitories enjoy a surplus of 336,000 euros in 2023, despite the challenges of the shortage of skilled workers in care. The district's annual accounts concluded 183.8 million euros, while the debt was reduced by 900,000 euros to 4.2 million euros. A truly dynamic year for Unterallgäu!
