Triathlon star Anja Kobs: Reaching the finish line with flying colors!

An exciting chapter ends with a bang! Anja Kobs from Allingen celebrated her crowning farewell to her professional career at the Ironman in Porec (Croatia). She not only achieved 5th place among the 271 participants, but also took victory in her age group 45-49. An exciting finish after 13 years in multisport, which she accomplished in magnificent style!

The event in Porec was an unplanned adventure for Anja, and despite the strenuous competition beforehand, she was determined to complete the 113 kilometers in under 4.35 hours. Anja missed her finish by almost seven minutes, but she was still beaming after the race. “I never look for excuses,” she declared with an unwavering spirit. Their satisfaction with the performance outweighed any minor setbacks.

Strengthened by setbacks

The competition was a real test of willpower! After an injury that forced her to take a seven-week break from swimming, she got out of the Mediterranean after 33:25 minutes and initially took 61st place. But that was just the beginning! On the bike saddle, Anja covered the 90 kilometers in a blistering 2:31:42 hours and catapulted herself to the top of the overall rankings. With a solid running time of 1:31:11 hours, she finally finished with a total time of 4:42:04 hours. The win in her age group secured her a qualifying spot for the 2025 World Championships in Marbella, but it would remain unused as she now ends her professional career.

A truly impressive finale for an athlete who shaped the triathlon scene with her fighting spirit and unbridled ambition. Her life chapter as a professional athlete is closing, but the shine of this race will always remain.
