As part of the tests, pollutants were taken into account, particularly environmentally harmful substances such as PFAS. These substances are not biodegradable and accumulate in the environment. All seats tested underwent strict controls regarding their pollutant levels. The ÖAMTC therefore recommends testing child seats in specialist retailers before purchasing and not ordering them online. Attention should also be paid to user-friendliness and the possibility of online operating instructions.

The prices for child seats vary greatly, some models are available for less than 100 euros, while others can cost over 700 euros. In Germany, children up to 12 years old or a height of 1.50 m must be secured in suitable child seats.
