Grenade discovery in Weimar: large-scale operation during forced evacuation!
A shock for the city of Weimar! On Monday, November 4th, a dangerous, grenade-like object was discovered during a forced evacuation on Heldrunger Strasse. What began as a routine operation quickly turned into a dramatic large-scale operation by the police and special forces from the Thuringia State Criminal Police Office (LKA). The situation required immediate action to ensure the safety of residents.
While clearing the apartment, officers came across the suspicious object, which immediately triggered the alarm. The entire building was evacuated in no time, and the Weimar fire department supported the police in the rapid evacuation. A total of 13 families had to hastily leave their homes while emergency services did everything they could to avert the danger.
Experts in action: mortar shell discovered!
The police immediately requested specialists in improvised explosive devices and incendiary devices (IEDs). They arrived with a special vehicle and confirmed that it was actually a mortar grenade. The dangerous find was carefully loaded into a special trailer and transported away. The experts are now checking whether the grenade is still functional while the Weimar police station has begun the investigation.
