These lively animals were suspected overnight and also swam around in the Löwenbrunnen. The city administration of Weimar is anything but amused about this brazen action.

On Tuesday, October 29, the city administration became aware of the unfortunate fish. Employees of the shelter hurried to rescue and took the gold fish out of the fountain to bring them to a pond owner. There was no space in the shelter for the animals that were exposed to in a completely unsuitable habitat. The city of Weimar's veterinary and food surveillance office has already started and assumes a willful act.

The city of Weimar urgently warns: goldfish are vertebrates and are subject to the Animal Welfare Act! The suspension of these animals could be seen as a crime. The city explains that goldfish need special living conditions, including the right water temperature and a suitable soil for looking for feed.
