Farewell to Pastor Friedemann: A colorful phase of life ends in Hofheim

An emotional farewell is coming! Pastor Friedemann vom Dahl is leaving the Evangelical Johannesgemeinde in Hofheim to take on a new challenge in Thuringia. On the second Sunday of Advent, December 8th, he will be officially farewelled in St. John's Church. “Gratitude” is the feeling that accompanies him in his last weeks, but the sadness about the upcoming move to Weimar with his wife Anja is also noticeable. The 57-year-old knows exactly what he is giving up: a vibrant community life that has grown close to his heart.

A pastor with a heart for the community

Friedemann vom Dahl has always worked to ensure that people in the community can get involved. He calls it a “participatory church” and firmly believes in the future of this form of community work. In his almost 25 years in Hofheim, the number of members has decreased from 3,100 to 2,300, but volunteer work has grown. “That makes me proud,” he says. Three associations support community work, and various church service formats, including the popular breakfast service, have enriched community life.

A difficult farewell for everyone

Saying goodbye will be difficult for both sides. “I will miss the colorful and diverse community life,” admits vom Dahl. The community benefited greatly from him and he also made many friends. He will be celebrated on December 8th at the 9:30 a.m. service and reception afterwards. “The Johannesgemeinde will always remain our love,” he assures us. A new phase of life begins, but the memories of Hofheim will remain.
