THSV Eisenach celebrates Derby victory: A step to the cup room!

An exciting derby in the handball world! The THSV Eisenach caused a sensation with an impressive 30:24 win against SC DHfK Leipzig and thus secured a place in the cup quarter-finals. Managing Director Rene Witte was enthusiastic and praised the team for their outstanding performance: "We lived the derby from the start! A huge praise for the tactical, playful and combative masterpiece!" The fans were out of the house because this victory could be the first step to a sensation in the Final4 in Cologne.

The Eisenach defense was the key to success! They consistently prevented the fast attack of the Leipzig. Defense chief Philipp Meyer enthused: "The atmosphere was indescribable! We knew that we had to stop the Leipziger tempo game." Trainer Misha Kaufmann emphasized the importance of the stable defense: "Our victory was based on our 60-minute defense work." The Leipzig, on the other hand, had great difficulty in the first half of arriving against the strong defensive of the Eisenacher and often lost the ball. Trainer Runar Sigtryggsson admitted: "We did not implement our game concept."

The problems for Leipzig continued in the second half. The two time penalties against international Luca Witzke, who also weakened the team, were particularly bitter. Despite a short rearing at 19:19 in the 43rd minute, the Eisenacher set off in the final phase. Silvio Heinevetter, who took over Matija Spikic's goal after half -time, was crucial for victory. Sigtryggsson admitted: "Heinevetter stamped us to lose." In the last few minutes, Moritz Ende and Marko Grgic made the lead with a remarkable Kempa goal. Matija Spikic summarized the evening: "It was a very special evening. We are all very happy about the victory."
