Property tax chaos: Who pays the invoice in Eisenach?

Eisenach, Deutschland - in Eisenach and the Wartburg district, the citizens are facing a financial shock! Next year, price increases will face all areas of life. The bus prices are increasing, the vehicle insurance companies increase their contributions and now the dreaded property tax comes into play-an unknown being that drives many owners on their forehead!

The federal government is particularly brazen! First, the property owners are forced to act as financial officials by laboriously collecting information from various, mostly publicly accessible sources. And all of this only to create the basics on which the property tax will be charged in the future. Especially in rural areas, where 1 to 2 family houses dominate, the stress will increase enormously!

The motto "performance must be worthwhile again" sounds almost like mockery, because citizens must now work out the basics and thus legitimize the increases in fees. A dirty solution for the federal government! But it will be brazen: responsibility for the inevitable increases is simply passed on to the municipalities. Sure, the revenue ends with the municipalities, but no city or community would ever have increased the fees so one -sided in order to burden the citizens in such a way and then to push the guilt to others!

Some mayors even demand that the federal government should issue the tax itself in the future. An understandable impulse, but that could mean the end of municipal self -government - and nobody should want that!
