Syrian tug gang: 300 people illegally brought to Austria!

The investigators of the State Criminal Police Office of Upper Austria have achieved a significant success: a six -member Syrian tug gang that has been active since July 2024 was smashed. According to Exxpress.at , the group is said to have transported around 300 people illegally across the border to Austria and further to Germany. The crucial reference to the gang came in August 2024 when a Syrian was arrested while trying to illegally smuggle seven people to Germany. This led to months of investigation, which finally led to the detection of the entire tractor ring.

The police were able to arrest the alleged main organizer, a 24-year-old Syrian, in December 2024. As a result, another three members of the gang in Austria were arrested in the first March 2025: on March 13th, 14th and 20th. Another member of the gang was caught in Germany. So far, all suspects arrested in Austria have been comprehensively confessed, such as Nachrichten.at . A man arrested in August 2024 served his prison sentence and was deported to Germany.

Current developments

The investigations by the criminal officers outline a professionally organized tractor structure that operated human trafficking through unscrupulous methods. There are currently four suspects in pre -trial detention in the Ried in the Innkreis. The continued arrests testify to the determination of the police to combat illegal towing and decide to stop human trafficking. The criminalists are still in close contact with the German authorities to examine the involvement of the group into national criminal activities.
