Supermicro presents revolutionary AI system for edge applications!
Supermicro, the San Jose-based IT company, recently unveiled a new, versatile artificial intelligence system design specifically designed for network edge applications. The new server, known as SYS-322GB-NR, can support up to 18 graphics cards (GPUs) and is equipped with two powerful Intel® Xeon® 6900 processors. These developments come at a time when many companies are working to integrate large language models (LLM) into their operations, driving the need for new hardware to process large amounts of data with minimal delay.
“Our system's optimized thermal design enables this computing power to be delivered in a compact 3U format with 256 cores that can be deployed in edge data centers,” said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. This innovation could be important for a variety of industries, as it not only offers companies the ability to process their data locally, but also reduces network load and shortens response times.
Technical details and applications
The SYS-322GB-NR is not only flexible, but also powerful. It accommodates up to 6 terabytes (TB) of RAM and can utilize a variety of expansion options to meet specific business needs. A practical example of the use of this system is in the manufacturing industry, where it can be used in automated production environments to evaluate data from cameras and sensors. This happens directly on site, which functionally makes data transfers to external locations unnecessary.
The system will also be used in control rooms; Here the AI accelerators can be replaced with multi-display cards to control up to 64 independent screens. This opens up new possibilities for visual data monitoring and real-time decision making.
The new system will be showcased at Supermicro's booth 518 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Las Vegas, October 8-10. Visitors can also discover other systems from Supermicro in combination with the latest technologies from NVIDIA, AMD and Intel Xeon. Demonstrations will include both edge and telco systems specifically designed for industry solutions.
In addition to showcasing the latest hardware, Supermicro will also partner with NVIDIA to demonstrate AI and inferencing solutions for on-premises and edge applications. This partnership aims to optimize enterprise solutions in areas such as retail, financial services and telecommunications. Particular attention is paid to generative AI solutions that cover a variety of use cases.
