In a thrilling high-altitude project, Avacon network brings a breath of fresh air into the air! Electricity pylons that need a new coat of paint every two decades are now on the program on the Rettmer – Luhdorf route. First, the entire line is inspected by a helicopter - an impressive spectacle that heralds the preparations for the subsequent work.
Challenging work at heights
Mast climbers, true darers, are in the air and fight against gravity! With skill and precision, they clean and paint the masts in multiple layers while moving at dizzying heights. To protect the surrounding area, tarpaulins are spread out and the wires remain de-energized during the work - a sure sign that only professionals are at work here. After the painting work has been completed, another helicopter flight will show whether any repair work is still necessary!
The work is not only physically demanding, but also requires a high level of concentration. In order to transport the equipment, water and paint safely to lofty heights, the devices must be cleverly attached piece by piece. But the breathtaking view often falls by the wayside - a climb for inexperienced people is absolutely not recommended!
Although the colors used are environmentally friendly, the residents have no choice: an inconspicuous shade of gray was chosen to blend harmoniously into the surroundings. A color change will only be possible again in two decades. So it's clear: the masts not only get a new look, but also symbolize the ongoing commitment to a safe and modern power supply!
