Serious accident in Latendorf: rescue operation with helicopter in action!

A dramatic traffic accident shook Latendorf on Monday evening, November 18th, 2024, when a passenger car left the road at the exit of the town and landed in a field. At 5:26 p.m., the West Cooperative Regional Control Center in Elmshorn was alerted, and the volunteer fire departments from Latendorf, Boostedt and Rickling were immediately put on alert under the operational keyword “TH Y” – technical assistance with human lives in danger.

When the first emergency services arrived, they found the heavily damaged vehicle lying off the road. Rescue operations were initiated immediately and while first aid measures were carried out, it was confirmed that no people were trapped in the vehicle. One seriously injured person was successfully rescued, while another was able to get out of the car independently. After receiving medical care from emergency doctors, both patients were quickly taken to nearby clinics, which underlines the drama of the situation.

Measures taken by the fire brigade and rescue services

The fire department took comprehensive security measures to secure the site and ensure fire protection. In an operation that included both stabilizing the accident vehicle and illuminating the scene and landing area for the rescue helicopter, it became clear how serious the situation was. The main road was closed to through traffic in both directions throughout the operation.

A total of around 80 fire and rescue services were on site. The spectacular contingent included the Latendorf, Boostedt, and Rickling volunteer fire departments as well as the rescue service Cooperation in Schleswig-Holstein with several ambulances, an emergency ambulance and the Christoph 42 rescue helicopter. The Segeberg and Pinneberg police were also on site to clarify the situation.
