Scholz under pressure: Industry demands immediate measures against electricity costs!

Magdeburg, Deutschland - The pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is growing! According to the failure of the traffic light coalition, the Federal Chancellor is again in focus today, while at the industrial summit with representatives of business associations, companies and unions. The expectations are steamed because Scholz has no majority in the Bundestag for billions of billions. The financing of these projects becomes a great challenge, and concrete results are not in sight.

At the first industrial summit at the end of October,

Scholz had called for a “pact for industry” to strengthen the industrial location and secure jobs. But the reality looks dark: the high electricity prices and rising network charges put a lot of burden on companies. Alexander Becker, head of the steel manufacturer Georgsmarienhütte, complains of energy costs that have exploded in recent years. "We no longer have any space for investments," said Becker. The steel industry is under immense pressure, and time is urged: from January the network charges must be drastically reduced!

The Situation is alarming! Business associations warn of Germany's de -industrialization. The President of the Stahl Business Association, Gunnar Groebler, demands immediate measures to reduce electricity costs. IG Metall also warns of massive job losses if it is not traded quickly. The Federal Government originally planned a federal grant to relieve companies of up to 5.5 billion euros, but a judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court thwarted these plans.

Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) has made a proposal to use the freed-in Intel billions to reduce the network fees. But without a majority in the Bundestag's budgetary committee, this plan could quickly fail. The question remains: What can be achieved at today's summit if Scholz has no support? The clock ticks and the industry is waiting for answers!
